It’s a special year for the team at Esendex, as we’re celebrating 20 years of making business communications brilliant. Since 2001, when we were just a team of five with a mission to build a high-quality business SMS service for our customers, we’ve come a long way.
In 2006 we spread our wings overseas, opening our Barcelona office. Offices in France and Australia followed, and then Germany in 2012. As we have grown, so too has our customer base: we now serve over 45,000 companies worldwide in delivering the right messaging solutions for their business.
More than SMS
On our quest for a high-quality business SMS service, an early discovery was that first-class communication does not rely on a single channel, and use cases stretch way beyond marketing. In 2009, we launched Echo, an intuitive, robust, and user-friendly messaging service to send SMS online.
There has been a seismic shift in the way consumers interact with a business online over the past decade. 3G networks revolutionised the way people call, text, and use the internet on mobile devices. 4G connectivity was born soon after, which was 10x faster than its predecessor.
A 2019 report showed that people spend more than four times longer on their mobile than in 2011. With mobile devices rapidly becoming the go-to device to access the internet, businesses needed to adapt to improve their mobile experience. That is why in 2015, we launched Mobile Journeys.
To ensure a positive experience beyond the first message, alongside Mobile Journeys, Messaging Studio was launched in 2018. Messaging Studio harnesses the power of images, videos, and call-to-action buttons in SMS, RCS, and Whatsapp, so you’re meeting your customers exactly where they want to be. As the number of messaging tools for smartphones continues to grow, the demand for instant messaging is rapidly increasing. In fact, as of 2019, it was predicted that 62.7% of Australian internet users use mobile messaging.
A strong track-record
There have been many reasons to celebrate over the 20 years Esendex has been in business. In our mission for greatness, we have been recognised by some of the biggest names in mobile communications and technology, including Vodafone, EE, Megabuyte, and CIO APAC magazine.
Most importantly, as we have grown to a team of 260 people worldwide, we are proud to support our people. Giving back
At Esendex, we are firm believers in giving back to our communities and supporting those in need. Each office supports local charities and globally, we’ve been able to raise tens of thousands to support stable housing, health, and social inclusion for the most vulnerable. Most recently, Esendex Australia partnered with The Salvation Army to support their Disaster Appeal. Not only providing SMS credits to help them reach current and potential donors but also providing the skills and experience of our team to work alongside the wonderful team at The Salvation Army.
